The development of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research projects and interaction with various productive sectors of society are characteristics of the Postgraduate Program (PPG) in Animal Science. It is possible to highlight actions developed by the faculty in three distinct areas of society: Projects with cultural impact and dissemination of knowledge in basic education; Projects with social impact for the community; and Projects with economic impact for the industrial and business sector.
+ The PPG, together with the Basic Education Integration Committee (CIEB), promotes actions such as: the UNIFRAN Summer School; Meeting of the Basic Education Integration Committee; Scientific Initiation (IC) Guidelines in High School; in addition to promoting lectures, material and educational actions.
+ Together with the Social Integration Committee (CIS), it promotes projects to support the community of a solidarity and voluntary nature aimed at raising awareness of responsible ownership; collection and donation of food for nursing homes, collection and donation of clothes, shoes, toys and sweets for needy children. Animal health care campaigns are also offered.
+ The PPG provides consulting services to companies in the animal health sector, ecotourism and small rural producers, sharing innovative knowledge for the use of sustainable technologies; it promotes the Animal Science Lecture Series in order to improve the knowledge of professionals in the region.
The PPG in Animal Science develops activities with direct action in seven of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda: SDG 2: zero hunger and sustainable agriculture; SDG 3: health and well-being; SDG 6: clean water and sanitation; SDG 9: industry, innovation and infrastructure; SDG 11: sustainable cities and communities; SDG: 15: life on land; and SDG: 17: partnerships and means of implementation.
The expansion of the international visibility of the Graduate Program in Animal Science is one of the most important strategies to promote the growthqualitative evolution of the Program. The internationalization actions of the PPG in Animal Science are ongoing,include, among others:
+ Offer of courses in English;
+ Scientific publication of articles in English, as well as in international journals;
+ Participation in international events;
+ Oral presentation of works in international congresses;
+ Encouraging the internationalization of undergraduategraduate students;
+ Continuous participation of foreign researchers in researchexchanges;
+ Participation of professors as reviewers of internationally recognized scientific journals;
+ Academic training in foreign institutions of PPG professors;
+ Scientific events held at UNIFRAN with the participation of international researchers.
